A new study of over a thousand parents with one kid reveals some important things. The study suggests that more than 80% of kids like to play games. Among the list, more than half of the parents state their kid plays more than 3 hours, regularly. Only 13 % of youngsters don’t play daily.

The C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health, from the University of Michigan, claimed, more than 75 per cent of parents believe that their child’s gaming is shorter than or even the same as their peers; whereas, 13% of parents of daily gamers believe their teen spends more time gaming than other teens.

Dr Gary Freed, poll co-director and Mott pediatrician said: “Many parents of gamers find it challenging to learn about the amount of time their teen spends on video games”. He added, “Many parents of frequent gamers think that the time is in line with their peers,”

Compared to parents of teen girls, double as many parents stated that their boy spends more time playing video games. The study revealed that teen boys are also more likely to spend three or more hours of gaming compared to a teen girl. This is a little surprising.

The parents involved in the poll said that gaming affects other aspects of their kids’ lives. The study suggests that too much playing can often get in the way of or disturb other traits of a kid’s life, such as productive activities, rest, communications, study, and extracurricular pursuits.

“Even though many parents consider gaming good for their kids, they also report various adverse impacts of prolonged gaming,” Freed said. “Parents are accountable for what their children do, and thus, must have to pay attention to their teen’s gaming behaviour. It is important to set reasonable limits to decrease adverse impacts on sleep, parents and peer relations and school performance,” he added.
