There is no doubt that the three of them work hard to spend time together with the children and that they have one another’s backs, Alicia said. This, however, was not a simple undertaking. To get it to function, Mashonda admitted that it was a “rollercoaster,” and that it required numerous treatment sessions. But they remembered Kasseem, who had become entangled in a family feud because of no fault of his own. As a result of everyone “putting in the work,” the family began to heal.

Co-parenting success has inspired both Alicia and Mashonda to write songs and self-help books. Blend: The Secret to Co-Parenting and Creating a Balanced Family was published in 2018 by Mashonda.
